The Franklin County Fair has announced the Entertainment line-up for August 2020. Among the acts this year:
On Friday, August 7th, the ROOTS & BOOTS TOUR with Sammy Kershaw, Aaron Tippin, and Collin Raye will take place. Tickets are $20 for Grandstand seating, $30 for Center Grandstand Seating, and $40 for track seating which includes gate admission.

The Potsdam Snack Pack Program helps over 300 students with healthy snacks on the weekends and during holiday breaks. Over 19,000 actual snack packs are been sent out to date. The cost to provide these healthy snacks to students in need works out to about $100 per year. The Potsdam Snack Pack program is constantly seeking volunteers to help pack the snacks, and also continuously accepts donations of snacks or monetary donation to offset the cost of the snack packs. The Potsdam Kiwanis Club is collecting returnable bottles and cans as a fundraiser to purchase children’s books for the Head Start Reading Programs at Potsdam and Parishville School Districts. If you would like to contribute, you can donate your redemption amount into a special account at CJ’s Bottle and Can Retrieval Center in the Sea Comm Plaza in Potsdam. You can also mail in donations to the Potsdam Kiwanis Club P.O. Box 793 in Potsdam.
The Canton 1st Presbyterian Church on the Park will be holding a Ham Dinner on Sunday, February 23 from 11 am – 1:30 pm. Menu includes Ham, coleslaw, macaroni and cheese, assorted pies and beverage. The cost is $8 adults, $5 children age 5-10. Those under 5 and over 90 are free. Take-outs are available. All are welcome.
United Helpers is proud to host, “Senior Living: Understanding Your Options” on Wednesday, Feb. 26 from 2:30-3:30 p.m. in the multipurpose room at United Helpers Independent Senior Living, 30 Sullivan Drive in Canton. Trinity Episcopal Church on Fall Island in Potsdam will hold its "fourth Thursday of the month" free-will community supper in the church’s river-view parish hall on Thursday, February 27th from 5 pm to 6:30 pm. St. Lawrence Health System will host its next Red Cross Blood Drive on Friday, February 28, 2020, in the 2nd floor Conference Rooms A and B and Classroom at 50 Leroy Street, Potsdam from 10:30 am – 4:00 pm. The Parishville Ladies Auxiliary will hold a spaghetti dinner on Monday, March 2, from 4:30 to 6 pm. Cost of the meal is $8.00,
A Jewelry and Watch Sale fundraiser will take place at the Canton Potsdam Hospital on Friday, March 6, from 8 am until 4 pm to benefit the hospital. D & D Jewelry Designs will be selling jewelry and designer watches, silver jewelry, and they will also give cash for gold. The event will be on the second-floor conference room. Major credit cards will be accepted.
The North Lawrence Fire & EMS Winter Demo Derby will be held on Saturday, March 7th at the Ball Field on Church Street. Registration will be from 9-11 with a cost of $25 per car. The Crary Mills Pancake Breakfast will be held Sunday, March 8 from 8 am to noon, complete with pancakes with real maple syrup, scrambled eggs, sausage, fried potatoes, and more. Cost is $6 for adults, $5 for children 5 and over, and children eat for free.
The Potsdam Elks Lodge is helping the Potsdam Central RED (Remember Everyone Deployed) group collect candy bars from now through March 20th. Candy bars can be dropped off at locations including Potsdam Dollar General, Potsdam Save A Lot, the Colton Amvets, Kinney Drugs on Maple Street in Potsdam, Kunoco Food Marts in Colton, Parishville, and Russell, Lavigne’s IGA in Potsdam, Parkway Express in Potsdam, the Potsdam Elks Lodge, and the B993 / Star Country studios. Monetary donations for the purchase of candy bars can be dropped off at the Potsdam Elks Lodge. Collected candy bars will be taken to the Fort Drum USO for returning soldiers, redeploying soldiers, and active duty service members.

Party for a Purpose, a dinner and dance fundraiser and celebration for the Potsdam Snack Pack Program, will be held on Saturday, April 18th from 6-10 pm at the Stables At Windy Point. Tickets for the event are $50 per person, or $350 for a table of 8. Food will be provided by PCP BBQ, entertainment provided by Northbound, and there will be a cash bar on hand. The classes are taught by St. Lawrence University students in the Community Based Learning course. Cyber Seniors is being held at the One Stop Career Center in the Human Services Center building at 80 State Highway 310 in Canton.
